What the Best CEOs know – 7 Exceptional Leaders and Their Lessons for Transforming any Business provide two examples of exceptional leaders within the computer industry Mr. Michael Dell and Andy Grove (Krames, 2003). Michael Dell the founder of Dell Computers Corporation and Andy Grove cofounded Intel. These two leaders have a distinct vision and mission for their companies. Their success was driven by their passion, strong leadership, corporate structure, and most importantly their failures. I will introduce each business professional and their contributions, resistance that each encountered, similarities and differences noted in their professional stories and conclude with a discussion of what factors I believe impacted their success. Introduction to the Professional and Contributions From an early age Dell understood the benefits of a developed manufacturing and distributions system that was based on a partnership with customers (Krames, 2003, p.58). During his first couple of months of college his passion for computers became the launching pad for Dell Computer Corporation in 1984. Within a 4 year period Dell would lead the company through a public offering of $30 million, he saw a 90,000 percent increase in stocks and was named the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 Company at the tender age of 27 in 2009 (Krames, 2003, p. 58).
